Our client challenge came from an automotive battery company. Auto shop employees and drivers faced a slow, confusing battery selection process with too many options, making it hard to pick the right battery.

We designed for two people: Michael, a busy daily driver with limited vehicle knowledge, and Tammy, an auto shop employee who diagnosed vehicle issues but lacked vehicle-specific data.

Our MVP let a driver find their car by make, model, year and engine or by scanning the VIN barcode, get a personalized battery recommendation, and ask Clarity, our AI chatbot, for help and maintenance tips.

I was one of two product managers, and led daily standups and sprint planning with our five engineers.

We prioritized the backlog with SAFe’s Weighted Shortest Job First, scoring every feature for value, time criticality and risk against its size, for both the driver and the auto shop sides of the product.

We presented to the client twice, at the midpoint and at the end. At the midpoint, their feedback was that the user experience wasn’t up to the level they were looking for.

With limited UI/UX experience on the team, we leaned on our coaches’ feedback, redesigned the interface for clarity and readability, and applied accessibility best practices with guidance from an accessibility expert.

Our final presentation brought it together: the problem, personas, market and competitive research, our technical approach, a live demo and a three-phase roadmap.

Alongside the project, I completed 20+ hours of agile training led by the VP of Product and passed the SAFe Product Owner / Product Manager (POPM) certification.
